1867 Liberty Seated Dime

A number of issues from the mid-1860’s had incredibly small mintage levels due to the Civil War and its aftermath. The hoarding of precious metals was rampant and the circulation of silver coins was sparse. During this tumultuous period, the 1867 Liberty Seated Dime (Buy on eBay) marked the absolute mintage low for the series at just 6,000 pieces struck for circulation.

The issue remains much more available than the low mintage would suggest. Many examples were set aside at the time of release, providing an adequate number of coins to satisfy collector demand. This includes a large number of uncirculated pieces and around two dozen graded gem or finer.
